Heat Distribution & Cooking Performance

Pros:

  • "It heats quick and even, despite my temperamental stovetop."
  • "The heat distribution is comparable to my cast iron - nice and even."
  • "It's durable, well constructed, and really does disperse heat with extreme efficiency."

Cons:

  • "But I notice that heat distribution is not even."
  • "Since the bottom of the pan is slightly concave, it created a hot spot on my burner."
  • "The bottom doesn't conduct heat that evenly so you have to rotate things to cook them evenly."
  • "On a 9-point temperature control, medium-high (the highest ever recommended for nonstick pans) is 6, but this pan requires 7.5, and even at that setting it takes much longer to heat than any other pan I have."
  • "I can’t stand is how remarkably slower it is to heat with induction."

Non-Stick Quality

Pros:

  • "I have been using this for over 6 months now and I have never had anything stick."
  • "It’s nonstick, eggs just slide out."
  • "The non-stick surface is great and nothing has stuck so far, so it does that well."
  • "Nothing sticks to it !"
  • "The non-stick coating works very well and is remarkably easy to clean."

Cons:

  • "Most things stick to it."
  • "Well, the first time I tried to fry an egg in it, the egg stuck."
  • "But I tried oil and still my eggs stuck to the pan."
  • "Eggs stuck to the pan on first use when the pan was fully heated and oiled."
  • "Now, after a little more than 1.5 years of use it's about as non-stick as a brand new cast-iron skillet."
  • "The non stick coating is starting to peel in the center which pretty much makes it landfill at this point."

Design & Build Quality

Pros:

  • "This is my new favorite pan for making breakfast."
  • "I'm very happy with this pan. It's solid and fairly heavy and looks like it will last well over time."
  • "Very well-made. I was looking for a fry pan which would not warp (as so many of them do)."
  • "The handle is pretty comfortable."
  • "The base metal is very thick as is the handle material which stays cool to the touch when in use. It cleans up super easy as it should."

Cons:

  • "The pan has a slightly raised center or 'hump' which makes it inconvenient when cooking small amounts, like one egg."
  • "The shape of the pan is convex, meaning the center is raised... if you're making anything that starts out as a liquid (eggs, pancakes, etc), just give up on keeping any shape as it will pool to the sides."
  • "There's a notable dome in the center which pushes liquids to the outer edges."
  • "Both pans have a convex curve to the base of the pans... so liquids like eggs or pancake batter run to the edge of the pans."
  • "Right out of the box the pan was convex, meaning oil, food, etc all slide to the edge of the pan."

Longevity & Warranty

Pros:

  • "They hold up well for years."
  • "This one is a little heavier and should hold up as long or longer."
  • "Our cookware products carry a limited lifetime warranty. This warranty protects against defects in material and workmanship."
  • "It lasted over 10 years even with loads of abuse, until the non-stick coating finally wore out."

Cons:

  • "So I reached out to their Warrantee Dept with pictures and Rachael response is to pay to return and provide prepaid shipping charges and they will evaluate the pan based on their poor warranty."
  • "I didn't buy this again since it only lasted a year before the coating wore off and was no longer nonstick."
  • "After 5 years, the non-stick interior failed."
  • "DO NOT be fooled by the 'limited lifetime warranties' that imply that these retain their nonstick surfaces indefinitely."
  • "When I asked T-Fal to honor the lifetime warranty they stated it is not a manufacturing defect, but showed signs over overheating."

Induction Compatibility

Pros:

  • "Induction compatibility is high. The pan heats quickly and evenly."

Cons:

  • "This pan does not work on an induction top at all. False advertising."
  • "The only downside is that it could perform better on induction cook tops."
  • "I would look elsewhere and spend a few more bucks for something better performing for your induction cooking."
  • "The product description says this pan works on an induction stove... but the small size of the ring on the bottom makes it pretty useless for induction cooking."
