Waterproof Quality

Pros:

  • "The waterproof layer is thin and quiet, no crunchy sounds when lying on it."
  • "I laid the mattress protector on the counter and placed a newspaper underneath it. Then I took a full cup of water and poured it on. I check it right away... no leaks."
  • "Great for little kids who are potty training. When accidents happen, the mattress pad protects wetness from getting on the mattress."
  • "Lucky we had SureGuard! not a single drop reached the mattress."
  • "Comfortable, waterproof mattress protector - appears to be tightly woven FABRIC - comfortable on our granson's thermal foam bed, absolutely protects the mattress."
  • "Fits great on our queen - the cover is a soft almost terry-cloth-like texture. Can't feel it, can't hear it, and it's definitely waterproof."
  • "Last night had a spill accident took the protector off to find a dry mattress underneath WOW."

Cons:

  • "The liner on the bottom is also noisy and liquid slowly seeps through it to the mattress once the filling is saturated."
  • "Supposedly leak proof... but the very first night I used it, my 4 year old wet the bed.... Took the sheets off in the morning and checked the mattress... damp!"
  • "Leaked perspiration though the pad on to the mattress on the 1st use in spite of what the directions say."
  • "NOT waterproof."
  • "The big round sweat stain on the mattress suggests the waterproofing is completely gone."
  • "I woke up to a wet spot (~1.5 ft in diameter at most) and it had soaked completely through the mattress pad."
  • "Mother in law peed a little bit and it went through this 'waterproof' cover through the thick mattress pad and into the mattress so fast it was ridiculous."

Fit and Comfort

Pros:

  • "This mattress protector has exceeded my expectations and fits almost perfectly, thanks to the great elastic corners."
  • "It fits my extra thick mattress just fine."
  • "Fits my daybed great."
  • "I had no trouble installing it by myself on a queen-sized mattress along with a separate, thick, memory foam topper."
  • "It fits great on my queen bed. Easy to put on and take off."
  • "This mattress pad has deep pockets and fits the mattress well."
  • "It fits well and stays on the mattress without having to re-tuck it everyday."

Cons:

  • "It fits well, but the terrycloth top is very cheap, sparse tiny loops, noisy and not at all soft."
  • "Not suited for a Tempurpedic mattress. It is very loose fitting and quite flimsy."
  • "Kind of lose could be a snugger fit always having to adjust when changing bedding."
  • "The protector was loose on our queen mattress and just didn't seem as high of quality as the one we had had previously."
  • "The texture of this is also not smooth. It has a very grainy texture which feels strange to lay on top of."
  • "The mattress is designed to fit a thick or deep mattress. We have a foam mattress of normal thickness and the mattress cover comes off."
  • "They just don't fit. Way too big so they slide around on the bed and then creates static electricity with sheets."

Durability and Maintenance

Pros:

  • "Our little dog often gets on our bed so my linens are washed frequently and the SureGuard stays very soft and feels like new after washing and drying."
  • "The last set we had lasted well over 4 years and many washings."
  • "This isn’t my first mattress protector I’ve gotten from this company. The first one lasted over ten years."
  • "The mattress protector did fit the mattress well, even after repeated washings."
  • "Sureguard gets washed and dried once a week. Already more than 20 times!!! It looks like when it arrived."
  • "They wash beautifully and so far the fabric has not pilled."
  • "I washed and dried them before putting them on the beds - no problems there."

Cons:

  • "It's relatively thick when I wash and maybe it's the same with all mattress protectors but its sometimes really wet when I take it out of the washer to put in the dryer and so I don't enjoy washing it."
  • "There is one drawback to this mattress pad. You can not put it in the dryer. Otherwise the protective backing will be damaged."
  • "All of the zippers broke so I had to throw them out since I could not use them any more... money wasted."
  • "Two immediate washings of the Mattress Protector did not remove the stains completely."
  • "I’ve had it less than two months and when I went to put it in the washer, I noticed the underside is flaking off!"
  • "After owning it for 4 months and washing as directed maybe 1-2 times per month, I am finding the mattress wet underneath when accidents happen."
  • "Works great keeps the mattress dry but when washing it would always come out of the wash machine dripping."
