Rug Gripping Effectiveness

Pros:

  • "These pads are perfect, hold our rugs in place, doesn’t damage our floors and are very reasonably priced."
  • "Since we added these under the runners they have stayed in place. They are working great."
  • "On Hardwood Floors, this doesn't budge, keeping rugs and other items from slipping."
  • "I bought this rug gripper, cut it to fit my octagonal table. It works like a charm!"
  • "This product is not stuck to the floor but holds the rug in place very well without being torn up."
  • "This rug gripper is amazing for the price. My dog has a bad leg and was always kicking up the area rug which made it a tripping hazard. Now it doesn’t move at all."
  • "Rug does not slip, slide or move with the Grips. Sizing was good. Quality of the product was excellent."
  • "This is great on ceramic tile floors, which are unusually slippery. This product holds down a heavy braided rug on a tile floor, couldn't find another product that did that."

Cons:

  • "This was a $20.00 piece of crap. Takes 3 people to install it. The mat slides all over the place."
  • "There is nothing gorilla grip about this non slip product, does absolutely nothing, it’s a waste of money."
  • "These WILL NOT stay in place either. They’re a miserable waste of money."
  • "Save your time and money and get the little sticky pads for the corners of your rugs instead of these."
  • "Unfortunately, this grip is still sliding and peeking out of my 12-foot runner."
  • "This product just simply doesn't work, at least not on hardwood or tile floors. Any improvement is marginal at best."
  • "Today I finally gave up with these supposed super gripping mats, which are supposed to help keep small rugs in place, and replaced them with the old ones I'd intended to replace with these!"
  • "Although it's basic rug pad it doesn't prevent rug from slipping and doesn't have enough grip power to hold a kitchen rug in place."

Odor and Chemical Concerns

Pros:

  • "Received exactly what I expected. Although it did have a bit of a smell once I took it out of the packaging it didn’t take long to go away."
  • "This pad is thin, was easy to cut for fitting under the rug, provides slight cushioning underfoot, does not have an offensive chemical smell and I would buy it again when needed."
  • "Smell is NOT A PROBLEM. There are several comments about smell. I was concerned, as I'm super sensitive to odors. I only smelled these when my nose was right upon them."

Cons:

  • "It has a very bad smell. I had to take it outside to air out. Taking it outside did not help to get rid of the bad smell."
  • "This product looks like it would work in terms of preventing slippage of carpet, but the chemical smell so bad that I put it outdoors."
  • "I opened the package and the chemical smell was horrible. Laid it down thinking it would go away. I was so bad after two hours it was making me sick, nauseous and a headache."
  • "This product is a very thin rug gripper that would probably work ok to keep a rug in place on tile, for example, though it did slip and not grip very well when we tested a corner of it on our polished hardwoods."
