Effectiveness

Pros:

  • "These are BY FAR the best blister treatment I've used."
  • "They can be used over blisters and sore spots to relieve pain or can be used proactively on spots where you might worry about rubbing."
  • "These squares really do aid in helping burns to heal. They are cool and protective."
  • "This sticks to my blisters very well and makes it easy to then pop a band aid over it (required, that’s a given)."
  • "They feel soothing and they repair and protect my skin."
  • "Helps protect blisters from rubbing against shoes while running."
  • "They work like a charm and apparently allow one to continue dancing en pointe even with minor blisters."

Cons:

  • "The squares were barely cut. When I lifted the first one THE ENTIRE thing started to come out in one giant bulk."
  • "Mid June is too hot for delivery. They arrived all melted together in a lump."
  • "those suckers are a pain to affix to the intended area, as they stick to everything, and often end up getting folded over before being put in place."
  • "They tend to dry out faster and are more painful to remove."
  • "All the reviews act like these are a miracle cure. They are not. Very expensive for nothing."
  • "Upon removal of the gel square there was more skin around the callus that became over hydrated, thus making the healing callus more complicated."
  • "This gel-like substance 'rolls off/changes position/does not protect the infected area' as soon as you put a sock over it."

Value

Pros:

  • "Every other review on Amazon says what I will say... these 2nd skin squares are incredible and worth every penny."
  • "This package is very economical compared to the little boxes in the drug store."
  • "The value is great too. It's $10 for a box at a sporting goods store that contains 10 squares. Here I got 200 squares for less than $40."
  • "Have purchased twice already, and will purchase again!"
  • "These were pricey but they last forever and are worth every penny. You won't regret this purchase."
  • "No more blisters since we purchased this, and if you have a blister or raw skin these cover and protect it for a painless day of walking."
  • "This really did help my wound heal quickly without a scar."

Cons:

  • "The price is a bit high, but they help so much more than just bandaids."
  • "The large size is very expensive."
  • "Waste of $30, very disappointed."
  • "They changed this product and now it sucks. It use to come in round pads that you cut to fit. Now they are tiny squares that don't fit anything."
  • "Expensive but good."

Convenience

Pros:

  • "You can cut them if needed or place them side to side if you need more coverage."
  • "I was able to wear shoes over them with no pain!"
  • "I put one on and used medical tape over it and had instant relief."
  • "Can be placed on a very bothered spot, with immediate relief, even in a shoe or hiking boot where the injury occurred."
  • "You can literally, pop on the gel pad, cover it up with micropore or lukotape and off you go."
  • "The precut squares make the product very convenient to use."
  • "They are easy to put several into a small ziplock bag, then put some strips of tape on the outside of the bag and throw them into a backpack for any adventuring you want to do."

Cons:

  • "The seal on the tub was broken when it arrive and the bottom has two dates."
  • "The only slight complaint is that it is hard to keep in one place."
  • "The tub itself is rather too large for convenient travel."
  • "Packaging wasn’t great in both jars. They’re thrown into a clump and some adhesives stick to each other."
  • "Bought these to use on the top of my feet where athletic shoes rub and cause a rash. They are very difficult to separate out of the jar, difficult to place and tape, and don't hold up and protect my skin."
  • "They stick together, so sometimes when you fish one out you get the pad itself, plus one or more of the little mylar protective covers for other squares."

Comfort

Pros:

  • "I love these 2nd skin squares!!! They are perfect for blisters and cuts, especially when you’re wearing shoes."
  • "The gel-like texture of each square is cooling and helps calm down the burning sensation of a blister."
  • "Its durable and comfortable because you don't feel it when you run, but you know its there."
  • "These are so comfortable. I had blisters from my athletic shoes due to walking 3 miles a day."
  • "They are nice and big, so you can cut to fit the area you need, or use them on heels or where ever as they are."
  • "They feel like jelly pads, but are sturdy enough to hold up during practice/game."
  • "They are small though, about the size of a nickel. Perfect for feet."

Cons:

  • "I did not know how to apply the square."
  • "I have big hands and these are kind of hard to handle like working with jello."
  • "They are tricky to keep on the affected area, so what I do is cover it with a band-aid tough strip."
  • "Although this is a good product there are two things the purchaser should know-I this is a big tub of 1”x1” squared at are all stacked, intermingled, jammed into the tube. Second, there is not adhesive to it."
  • "Of course you need some kind of moleskin or tape to wrap and protect it. But it stays on, and most importantly as promised comes off easily with and without water."
  • "I use athletic training tape or bandages to hold them in place."
