Chalk Paint

Pros:

  • "This worked well for me to make chalk paint."
  • "I got this to make chalk paint with. It works awesome!"
  • "One other great thing about calcium carbonate chalk paint is that it can be kept for future use. It doesn't dry up!"
  • "Using this to do chalk painting. Have used plaster of paris and grout powder before, but this stuff is the Bomb...No paint brush marks at all and it looks fabulous."
  • "I use this to make my own diy chalk paint and use a 'screen printing' method when painting my stencils on wood. Works like a charm."
  • "I created my own chalk paint using this calcium carbonate. It worked perfectly."

Cons:

  • "When applying the paint mixture to furniture I discovered that I need to scumble out the chalky bits left in the wet paint."
  • "I used this to make my own chalk paint recipe using regular household paint and mixing this in. It wasn't as nice or easy to apply as store bought chalk paint."
  • "I ordered this product to make chalk paint. It is NOT what you want to use to make chalk paint. It is 'gritty'...even if you mix with hot water and mix well, still gritty!"
  • "The end result was awful. Even after thorough mixing, the chalk paint did not totally dissolve into the paint and left a very grainy end result on my piece of furniture."
  • "Using to mix chalk paint and it worked great! But still when I got down to the bottom of my paint container there were little specks/balls of white CC that started to show on my chair."
  • "I used this in a chalk paint recipe. It was 3 parts paint and one part Calcium carbonate. It was awful."
  • "I was bummed. I mixed it like everyone said they did in the other reviews. But it turned out like sand on the surface of my table."

Homemade Toothpaste

Cons:

  • "This item is exactly as described. It arrived with no problems and I am very happy with this purchase."
  • "This product comes as advertised and looks exactly like the picture. I used mine to make toothpaste and I am very satisfied with my purchase."
  • "The carbonate came very sturdily packaged, well labeled."
  • "Product is what was described, as expected, and arrived in great time."
  • "Initially I was concerned about the zip lock packaging, but after transferring it to a large glass jar, I realized the shipping would have been much more expensive if shipped that way."
  • "I couldn't be happier with this product! I have used it to make two different batches of chalk paint and both have come out perfect."

Cons:

  • "I am sure calcium carbonate will work for the job I had intended however the seal on the package was undone causing calcium carbonate to spill and coat all four other items in my Amazon box."
  • "Package isn't marked. When ordering boxes of supplies I don't want to have to guess at what something contains."
  • "Arrived packaged differently than I expected. Different company name on the sticker. I wasn't sure I had even received the correct item."
  • "The only downside is the package is not resealable."
  • "Because of the faulty seal on this package I will not purchase calcium carbonate from the supplier again for fear of a repeat experience."
  • "The bag is not resealable, so make sure you have a ziplock bag or container to move it into."
  • "This is how my package looked out of the box. I would expect a food product to be sealed correctly, without damage. Mine was open."
