Design and Build Quality
Pros:
"These were not as heavy duty as they were then I was a child but nothing is now a days."
"The unit only uses 4 LED lights which might have been OK but they positioned 2 of them in the middle and the other 2 at opposite corners."
"The pegs are all durable and easy to use."
"Definitely NOT the classic lite Brite. Thin and wouldn’t stay standing even with the stand up."
"This is battery operated and needs three AA batteries and based on the fact that it runs on batteries and its size, I would say it’s portable."
"The rubber sheet that you poke the pegs through does not recover after use, the light (the little bit that there is…) leaked through from just about every single hole."
"The product itself is great. It's a little bit hard for small hands to do but with help the kids really enjoy playing with it."
"This toy incorporates many different elements that become interesting and attractive for kids: the bright lights and colors (curiosity) in a dark room, the ability to draw any pattern they want (creativity) and ease of use and mobility make it an excellent product."
Cons:
"The original was heavy duty and well made. Would not recommend or buy again."
"The light on this really isn't all that bright."
"The pegs in the corners are dim. The black film behind the front screen blocks the light from lighting up the pegs."
"Either the quality has really gone down for this product or the one we got is defective."
"The stand doesn’t work at all and it falls over constantly with just one gentle push of a pin."
"The power button doesn't switch the device on or off and the lighting is SOOOO dim."
"When you turn it on it hardly lights the screen. Not bright at all. Half of the pictures are not lit up."
"The light only stays on for about a minute before turning off."
Functionality and Features
Pros:
"It’s a fun way to be creative. It excites him to see the lights bright up when he pushes the bulbs into the holes."
"This is battery operated and has different flashing patterns."
"I liked it so much I ordered another one for my grand daughter's birthday coming up in February."
"It's fun to push the pegs into the foam."
"I love that the Litebrite is thin and lightweight with LED lights."
"The little lights light up just fine and it's fun to push the pegs into the foam."
"The only negative would be that the fold out stand is too flimsy and kept collapsing."
"It's fun to push the pegs into the foam."
Cons:
"The back of the toy shines brighter than the front pegs when they are pressed in the board."
"The power button doesn't switch the device on or off and the lighting is SOOOO dim."
"The pegs do t all like up with the same brightness."
"The lighting is not evenly placed over the whole background."
"The pegs all fit in crookedly, the light source from behind is so haphazard that only certain sections of your finished design will light up."
"There are light and dark spots on the board, some pegs do not glow at all."
"The light is not bright and the light is uneven. There are light and dark spots on the board, some pegs do not glow at all."
"It turns itself off after about 3 minutes."
Usability and Play Value
Pros:
"It has held up great for the past almost 3 years as much as my daughter uses it which I was very surprised and pleased with."
"This toy takes three double A batteries. At the back it's just an on/off button."
"The peg holes are improved with the semi-closures, so one could easily create designs without needing to use the black-out sheets."
"My children made the paper sheet patters that come with (not reusable) and never went back to it. However, quality for the price is wonderful."
"This is a good toy for the price for children that are beyond putting things in their mouths."
"I love how these are small and portable unlike the old 1 I grew up on that was huge."
"Overall, it works fine, but it doesn't light up evenly."
"They also only included about 20 of each color, so not nearly enough to fill the board or make very fun pictures."
Cons:
"It's too small, flimsy (there's a collapsible stand in the back that's supposed to hold it up, but a simple tap of the finger against the screen and it collapses)."
"It's battery powered like legit AA batteries and says LED lights but it’s spotty and it’s plastic."
"There are no purple or red pegs anymore, the pegs all fit in crookedly, the light source from behind is so haphazard that only certain sections of your finished design will light up."
"It's battery powered and the holes for the light pegs are covered with silicon, so unused holes stay dark instead of lighted."
"The power stays on for maybe 2 minutes, that's being generous."
"The light only stays on for about 5 mins and then goes off."
"The LED light is also very weak and doesn't even illuminate the pegs that are near the corners."
"It's battery-operated and turns itself off every few minutes."
