Filter Longevity

Pros:

  • "Disclaimer: I live alone. But, I have used one of these filters for more than a year and I have not noticed any change in the taste of the filtered water."
  • "With all-day usage by one person, one of these Elite filters did last about six months."
  • "I have found the taste of the taste of the filtered water even more pleasant, a nice, light minerality absent of any chlorine taste or scent, more so than the previous filters I had been using."
  • "These new elite filters with the upgraded internal design are great. This filter - the blue one- , even after four months, is still working very fast and creating great tasting water!"

Cons:

  • "I bought these because I thought that I would save money because they were supposed to last for 6 months. However, after only about a month, the filtration flow slows down so much that filtering just one liter of water takes over an hour."
  • "After only 12 days of owning this pitcher and filter, it’s producing smelly and unusable water."
  • "This filter is supposed to last a long time. I received this filter on Oct 31st and this is Dec 26th, so it did not last even 2 months, it is supposed to last 6 months."
  • "Each of these filters lasted for approximately 10 gallons. They'd work great and then slow to a trickle."

Filter Effectiveness

Pros:

  • "It leaves our water tasting better and is a lot more cost effective than buying bottled."
  • "I was using the white Brita filters, but then I read that the blue ones are going to last more and they filter more bad stuff out of your water."
  • "This improved filter is GREAT....I am very impressed with the job it does of making my water taste great!!"
  • "The lawsuit was filed by Los Angeles County resident Nicholas Brown, who is currently the sole plaintiff. Brown purchased a Brita water pitcher and standard filter for about $15 in 2022 after reading the product label and believing the device would filter contaminants to below lab detectable limits, the lawsuit said."

Cons:

  • "Tried these after using the white ones for a couple of years. First one I put in the pitcher had water running through it so fast I doubt it was filtering anything."
  • "The lawsuit said. “In this way, defendant has not only bilked millions of dollars from consumers in ill-gotten gains, but Defendant has put the health and welfare of millions of consumers and their families at risk.”"
  • "I checked the PPM reading of the water before and after and these didn't do any better than cheaper knock off filters."
  • "This filter touted as better than the regular does not even fit in my Brita dispenser."

Cost and Value

Pros:

  • "I firmly believe these filters make a difference when using a Brita water pitcher. The price is not cheap buy really make difference when drinking a lot of water."
  • "Does this filter do a much better job at filtering than the cheaper model? Yes, it really does. It’s evident in the taste, especially after 2 weeks, where the cheap filter starts to lose effectiveness."
  • "I love the “blue” long term filters that last 6 months. But the most important fact is water just tastes lovely and fresh without any odors."
  • "We do filter all our water for drinking and cooking and there is a difference over the 2 month style in taste in coffee and tea and a slight difference in plain water."

Cons:

  • "I bought these because I thought that I would save money because they were supposed to last for 6 months. However, after only about a month, the filtration flow slows down so much that filtering just one liter of water takes over an hour, and you have to replace the filter."
  • "If you like to stay hydrated or exercise often like I do, plan to only get one good month out of the elite filter if you are lucky (not 6 months like advertised)."
  • "I bought 2 of these with the hope that I wouldn't have to worry about replacing filters for 1 year, because the blue ones last 6 months each...problem is the filter takes forever, as in hours to filter, especially after the first cup or 2 drips through."
  • "Does not fit standard Brita pitcher, water goes right through without filtration. I went back to the white ones, which fit fine and filter."
