Application and Adhesion

Pros:

  • "The actual 'Saniderm' is thicker, easier to put on and adheres far better. Even after rolling around in bed the edges have stayed put."
  • "Goes on and comes off clean."
  • "Best way I found to apply is to fold one side of the bottom paper that is covering the adhesive about two inches in, then take your hand and slide it from one side to the other as you're pulling out the paper backing from the bottom."
  • "It works great. Sticks on good."
  • "Love this product for fresh tattoos. Applies easily, I make sure I round the edges and it stays on great!"
  • "It stayed on really well! To be honest even better than the one my tattoo artist put on."
  • "Needed it for a tattoo! Worked great, stayed on for 3 days until I sweated it off from work on the 4th day. But great if you need it for tattoos."

Cons:

  • "Bought this because of all the rave reviews. I never leave reviews but I had to warn others... it ripped a huge chunk out of my fresh new tattoo and was very painful to remove."
  • "Less than a day and already peeling up. I usually buy the unbranded version and never had an issue. Not worth the money since it won’t stay on."
  • "Bought 2 rolls and could not get it to stay on my first tattoo kept rolling up on the ankle."
  • "I bought two boxes of these bandages to protect some burn wounds that my mom has when she is showering. The first box that I opened wasn't any good. The entire roll did not stick."
  • "I got a spine tattoo and I would arrive from work with the saniderm bunched up and wrinkled up. The adhesive wasn't strong."
  • "Would NOT stick to me for anything."
  • "Bought this item to try and save my tattooo from getting wet but it was not malleable at all nor did it actually stick to my skin."

Healing and Protection

Pros:

  • "I have never had a tattoo heal better and it’s a half sleeve working on full sleeve right now."
  • "Saniderm is amazing. Seriously. I have a near-completed full sleeve of neotrad tattoos and without this stuff I would have been doomed years ago."
  • "I barely just got a tattoo and putting this on over the usual process was a breeze!"
  • "It healed the lines so crisp and beautiful."
  • "I used this on my third tattoo and I’ll never get one without it again. It cut the healing time in half."
  • "I love it. No more pet hair sticking to an open wound at night, reduced itching, no need to wash repeatedly the first few days, easy, easy, easy."
  • "The tattoo healed quickly and well!"

Cons:

  • "Got this to use for my tattoos and it did not work well with my skins way of healing and actually made my tattoos take longer to heal."
  • "Sadly this gave me a rash and even with removing while in the shower after allowing warm water to run over it for awhile it still managed to peel off some of the top layer of my skin."
  • "I am now farther behind on healing (I usually heal well, traditional washing and moisturizing) and now dealing with contact dermatitis from the adhesive."
  • "Had a horrible reaction to this product! Theyarket it to be so safe and so natural but I’m still recovering from the rash/cuts / skin discoloration it caused."
  • "After 24hrs there was dried blood and lymph that I had to wash off so I took off the bandage..it was excruciatingly slow even in the shower with water, felt like I was ripping my skin off..and I did..removed as gentle as possible and it took my skin off!!!"
  • "Never had an issue using second skins, bought this because of the reviews and now it's biting me in the rear. DO NOT USE, WILL MESS UP YOUR HEALING."
  • "I honestly think the Saniderm did more DAMAGE to my tattoo than I could’ve done myself."

Allergic Reactions and Skin Sensitivity

Pros:

  • "This is a godsend for tattoos."
  • "If you have a healing tattoo, use this instead of the old school ways. My tattoo was completely covered and I didn't have to worry about it sticking to my clothes."
  • "I will always use this on tattoos from now on!"
  • "I'm really glad that I took a chance and got this product because it really helped the healing process of my tattoo."
  • "Trying Saniderm really opened my eyes."
  • "I have not had one issue with scabing since."
  • "I didn’t think it would actually stay on in the shower, but it really did!"

Cons:

  • "First of all this product contains Latex and Neoprene....to which can cause an allergic reaction."
  • "So bummed that I have three boxes of saniderm that I won’t be able to use."
  • "Maybe it just doesnt work for me, but on the 2nd day of wearing it, my skin started to break out around my tattoo like crazy."
  • "Bought to cover new tattoos but I broke out with blister’s because of the adhesive."
  • "This product gave me a rash. So much so that I had blisters."
  • "I have used many many brands of second skin for tattoo healing without any problems and this is the only brand I've had an allergic reaction to."
  • "I developed a bad allergy to the adhesive and can no longer recommend it."
