Accuracy

Pros:

  • "Have compared to a calibrated thermometer and it is right on where it should be."
  • "The temperature calibrated exactly to the thermostat in the home."
  • "I have one of these in the master bedroom and one in the far spare room. It's nice to know what the temperature & humidity is in those rooms compared to the main living area."
  • "I have been using these for a while and they have been fantastic."
  • "I have asthma, so needed one of these to keep track of the humidity and temperature where I sit in our home. It seems accurate, because when I move it to another room, it adjusts in a way that makes sense."
  • "I grow african violets and correct temperature and humidity is important. I like being able to see what the temperature was in the last 24 hrs."
  • "This thing is great. We have it in our Promaster van and I couldn't even tell you how many times a day I look at it. So many features and the backlight is awesome."
  • "I really like that this unit accurately gives indoor humidity levels as well as temperatures."

Cons:

  • "I can no longer recommend them. The display will not stay on Fahrenheit, it keeps going back to Celsius."
  • "This has never been accurate. I purchased for an accurate humidity reading. I can’t say if it’s correct."
  • "Humidity control is a must for us. The reported humidity level by this device was an outlier."
  • "Although the temperature accuracy seems good compared to other indicators I have such as a digital thermostat, the humidity accuracy is not close to the advertised 2-3%."
  • "I have an Elitech STC-1000 in my guitar room that holds my humidifier to within 2% + or - and is very accurate. This doesn't agree with it or any of the Weather Underground stations around me."
  • "Seems like every brand of digital thermometer gives a different reading! The ThermPro consistently read 2 degrees higher than the Unni I also bought."
  • "The temperature reading was 4 full degrees too low compared to both of my accurate thermostats."
  • "Great and easy to read display but registers lower than actual humidity."

Customer Service

Pros:

  • "Called ThermoPro and talked to service department about problem. They sent me a new one within three days."
  • "The packaging was good and delivered very fast. I did have a problem with the unit reading 10% low on humidity and inquired with the company about how to calibrating it. They replaced it with in record time!"
  • "The first one I received had an issue so I called the number in the package for customer support. Within 5 minutes I had another one on the way."
  • "The thermostat works well and when my device had an issue 1.5yrs after purchase I emailed the company and they immediately sent me a replacement device."
  • "I have owned this product for a few years. At first all functions worked well but then the humidity level function stopped working. When I made contact with the vendor he agreed to send me a replacement unit immediately."
  • "ThermPro customer service is great! Just called customer service to see if the unit can be calibrated, and since it cannot be, they are shipping me a brand new unit, 2 1/2 years after my original purchase."
  • "I purchased 3 of these (6 all together) and 5 of them work fine, but one was dead on arrival. Put the batteries in and nothing happened at all. Will revise review if the sellers (Intek) replace it."

Cons:

  • "The instruction manual says press the 'backlight' button for 15 seconds to set it to remain on. That doesn't work."
  • "My single reason for buying this product is the fact that it has a backlight. Unfortunately, there is nothing in the description, either online or in the monitor instruction manual, that indicates that the backlight only stays on for about 15 seconds."
  • "The hygrometers appeared to record the temperature and humidity accurately, but they stood too tall for the space between shelves holding wine bottles in my storage cabinet - I had to return them and order smaller units."

Battery Life & Durability

Pros:

  • "This unit seems to work as intended. My only complaint is that in order to reset the high and low setting, you have to take out the battery."
  • "Bought this 5 years ago, still working great. I got it because the dehumidifying cabinet I’d gotten had in the reviews that its own humidity monitor was a little off."
  • "I've had a hard time monitoring and adjusting temperatures in various places in the house due to the inaccuracy and inconsistency of most thermometers. This one, and others from the same company, seem to actually meet their +/- 1 degree F specification."
  • "I can’t measure the accuracy because I do not have other device to compare, but I am sure the creators of this device made it accurate."
  • "For the price, this is a nice thermometer/humidity sensor. It's easy to read and the batter life is good."
  • "I recently got this one after looking at several and this one just looked like what I needed. Funny thing is I have the exact same one and have had it for a couple years."
  • "The device appears to be quite accurate which is the most important feature. The touch screen works fine, but I think the backlit function should have a larger touch area."
  • "I have tested this product against more elaborate and expensive devices previously purchased for other locations. There are no significant differences in the readings."

Cons:

  • "I was really happy with this product since I purchased it in 2021. However, two days ago I needed to change the batteries, I opened the compartment and found that all of the battery contacts had rusted, not corroded."
  • "I did not compare this very inexpensive meter to a laboratory standard, but it matched our other household meters within a degree or so and about one percentage point of humidity."
  • "This unit was great, always helpful to see just how poorly the AC worked in my office with accurate readouts of the temperature and the humidity. Really easy to toggle back and forth between celsius and fahrenheit. Was really disappointed when the display went blank and I went to replace the batteries only to find that the contacts in the battery compartment were so rusted that the device no longer functions."
  • "I really wanted to like this product, but after 3 months, it quit showing the current temperature. At first, I thought it was a weak battery, and after I changed them, it would work for awhile."
  • "This was a pricey unit but I wanted the big display. It looks great but the darn thing isn't accurate at all. If you want an accurate temperature reading don't waste your money on this product."
  • "We bought this originally to show how warm one room of our house was and justify during the AC down a bit more during the summer nights. It works great and the light up function is very helpful, I have used it for a couple years now with no issues. Changed the batteries I think twice in that time frame as well."
  • "I have a few high quality, highly accurate ways to check the temperature and humidity in the house. I just wanted something that was easier to read. Well, this shows a 5+ degree difference in temperature and an even larger difference in the humidity. It comes with two batteries. Both were dead on arrival."
  • "Love ThermoPro products. This is my third unit. I bought this specifically to monitor humidity level in a new basement bar I finished. Nice easy to read large screen and very bright blue light background."
