Application and Use

Pros:

  • "This one does not burn, and it leaves my eye nicely lubricated."
  • "I have been using this for several years as a night time moisturizer. Not only does it work, but it doesn't leave a 'haze' in my eyes that makes it difficult to focus in the morning."
  • "I really hope this review helps any fellow dry eye sufferers out there as much as it’s helped me."
  • "I use these drops at night before bed & first thing in the morning for my dry eyes. They keep them feeling unstuck for the rest of the day and give me the relief I have been looking for."
  • "This is the best daytime gel type eye drops I've tried so far, and I've tried over five different brands."
  • "This gel is very soothing and easy to use once you get used to it."
  • "They are so easy to use: you just pull down your lower lid & insert a couple of drops."

Cons:

  • "Unlike typical drops, need to use a mirror to apply."
  • "The tube is long enough that when my hand is on the end, I can't judge where the tip is to my eye."
  • "I do have trouble getting 'a drop' of gel in my eye (because it's a gel plus I cant see well without my glasses) and end up dispensing more than necessary making a bit of a goopy mess so I only use them at bedtime."
  • "I tried to open it before I went to bed last night and this morning. It is challenging."
  • "The drops/gel are a major pain to get open."
  • "Aiming that tiny tube at the right place takes a little practice, get in the cap back on the tube that's a real problem with the arthritis I have in my hands and the blurry vision caused by the jails."
  • "The gel was somewhat unwieldy to insert. Easy to over-apply."

Effectiveness

Pros:

  • "It is a huge relief and a great value for the price."
  • "This was instant relief & felt like silk!"
  • "It gives instant relief and lasts longer than anything I’ve tried."
  • "I love this product!! It’s a real treasure to have!"
  • "This product works great for me and I have been able to stop my other OTC products."
  • "Siccaforte (day) and Siccasan (night) are literally the only eye meds that have provided symptomatic relief of my dry eye."
  • "This stuff keeps her eyes lubricated all day instead of 2 to 3 times a day."

Cons:

  • "It does temporarily moisturize the eye when you put it in. However, it leaves a feeling of sand still being in my eye after about 10 minutes after using it."
  • "Even the night time version does not make it through the night and I awoke with my eyes feeling dry and gritty."
  • "It worked wonderfully the first two days my eyes feel very moisturized I was so relieved but on the third day it just didn't work anymore."
  • "Unfortunately, the day gel does not last very long."
  • "Yes, they do feel soothing when you first apply them but, throughout the day you have to use them repeatedly as they do not sustain that sensation and do not maintain the moisturization levels required."
  • "I have used several drops for dry eye in the past 20 years these 2 products seem about average. No better the tend to dry out & need to be redone shortly nothing wrong with them but won't buy again."
  • "This is not that great of a product at actually healing dry eyes."

Comfort and Sensation

Pros:

  • "This gel really surprised me because (unlike other eye gels I’ve tried) it’s not too thick and it’s easy to put in your eyes."
  • "This gel gives me instant relief and clears my otherwise blurry vision (due to dry eye)."
  • "By night time I look forward to putting the gel in my eyes and get instant relief and my eyes feel like an Oasis through out the night."
  • "This product is like putting water in your eyes. It is not like ointment for your eyes at night. I would have given it -10 if it could."
  • "This gel is the best. Drastically reduces discomfort, and is priced affordably."
  • "I bought this type because so many reviews say it didn’t irritate their eyes. Well, it doesn’t irritate my eyes either, I’m happy to say."
  • "This is a more comfortable product. Easy to use and it never stings."

Cons:

  • "Both of these made my eyes burn."
  • "I wanted to like these soo bad because they didn't have mineral oil or petroleum like some others, but they made my eyes feel like they were on fire."
  • "My eyes, eyelids, lower lash line, and tissue beneath the eyes, got red after one use and has continued after a week of use."
  • "Also, I’m sensitive to the preservatives because I have scratches on my corneas."
  • "I tried the Siccaforte once and threw both products away. Wow, did it ever burn, burn, burn."
  • "The gel blurs the vision so would not recommend use during the daytime hours."
  • "But this gel can look teary on you and you might feel like you're wasting a lot of it if you don't get a good direct hit on your eyeball and rotate your eyeball to absorb it in immediately."
