Blade Quality

Pros:

  • "The blades stand up well, but the extending handles have a couple of plastic parts that will not hold up nearly as long as they should."
  • "Highly recommend this lopper. Weeds turned into trees along the lot line. Cut limbs as thick as promised without a problem."
  • "Takes no effort to slice through a branch 2 inches thick."
  • "These garden loppers are a game-changer for me! Their lightweight design and easy usability make limb cutting a breeze."
  • "The blades have non-stick coating that makes the cuts smooth and easy."
  • "Have never used a lighter, more effective trimmer. They easily cut what I consider to be large branches off of anything."
  • "I love the quality of this tool!! The teeth at the top of the handle work together nicely to make cutting wood easier and more comfortable!"
  • "Cut limbs as thick as promised without a problem. Thicker limbs, about 2 inches or more were too thick for them."

Cons:

  • "I used this pruner regularly. One day while cutting a branch the handle broke."
  • "I bought these to prune my tree in the back yard that was WAY over grown. They worked like a dream, but the blade edge had folded over on itself."
  • "I was doing my lopping with a pair of Fiskars hand pruners, but these will not hold-up to heavier use (one inch branch is enough)."
  • "Either this lopper is faulty or Fiskars needs to go back to the design drawing board for this one."
  • "I purchased these back in June of 2023 and I used them maybe 6 times before the blade snapped off rendering them completely useless."
  • "I tried to cut a branch that seemed perfectly reasonable to trim with these, but the anvil snapped off like a ladyfinger firecracker."
  • "I bought this and tested it yesterday, it did great. Was able to cut avocado branches that were about 1" or less width without any problems."
  • "The cutting edge got dinged up after a few hours of light use in the woods. Unlike previous Fiskars loppers, it appears the cutting blade is not replaceable."

Handle and Mechanism

Pros:

  • "I love Fiskars products and this one did not disappoint. Perfect for those high to reach branches as well as the close up branches."
  • "I've borrowed for years, and finally purchased my own, and love these better than the ones I borrowed. I'm a tiny girl, and I can cut branches like the rest of them with these."
  • "This Fiskar lopper is such a pleasure to use. It was so easy to cut some branches overhanging my rose garden didn't even have to get a ladder."
  • "I've had it for over 3 years now and it still works like brand new. Easy to use and strong, it gives you good reach so you can cut high up branches."
  • "I had these for a couple of years before they were stolen. I loved that they were light weight despite the handle and gear being made out nylon or something similar."
  • "They say it can cut up to 1 1/2 inches. I never cut anything above 3/4 of an inch. All green wood, not any dead hard stuff."
  • "The handle design is horrible. You have to twist the handles to lock them in whatever length you want but they won't stay locked."
  • "I ordered these to take care of some low hanging limbs by my front porch. Although I should have invested in some with a longer handle, these did wonderful!"

Cons:

  • "I can't comment on the ease of use nor maneuverability because I returned this item for 2 reasons: 1) The anvil is made of plastic which is not what I expect to find on any cutting tool."
  • "These aren't bad but not great. I bought these to replace a 15-year-old pair that the handles were coming apart on."
  • "I bought these to trim my trees and bushes. Haven't had an issue with them. Just make sure you're being sensible with what you're trying to cut through."
  • "First thing, these trimmers are plastic and feel very cheap. They do not cut very well as there is only one blade that cuts up against a flat surface instead of 2 blades intersecting like scissors do."
  • "I really had high hopes for these because I like Fiskars products in general but this one is NOT a winner. The mouth is not large enough and you have to stretch unnaturally to open the mouth as far as possible."
  • "Not sure if the ones sold on Amazon are of different quality or manufactured differently (based on all the reviews with photos of nicked cutting edges and broken handles)."
  • "If you’re looking for something to trim medium sized branches and clearing brush then I highly recommend this product."
  • "I bought this to cut down some old rose and snowball bushes. Cut through some of those branches like butter."
