Durability and Safety

Pros:

  • "He has had this rattle for the past 5 months and it's still one of the toys with which he likes playing the most."
  • "During the time that he has had it, it has withstood quite a lot of things."
  • "The green and blue ends are flexible enough to be squeezed by stronger hands."
  • "The clear middle part is perfect for teething and gripping onto, while the tiny balls inside provide enough excitement to keep baby interested."

Cons:

  • "My son was chewing this and I looked up, saw this break into tiny pieces in his mouth. Do not buy."
  • "I was recommended to get an oball for my baby to improve tongue mobility... It makes me uneasy to think they can come undone."
  • "When we bought this I didn't realize it was such a quiet rattle... however, when we go over to my mother in laws she has dogs that get excited with loud rattles and squeaky toys... so it's nice to have an option of a toy to take to her house that isn't a stuffed animal."
  • "After reviewing all of the positive reviews and reading about how easy it is for babies to hold, I bought this for our 2 month old at 6 weeks to begin working on her gross and fine motor strength and her cognitive skills. She was having a difficult time gripping objects and this rattle absolutely held up to the hype about it being easy to hold! She didn’t express a real interest in using it until 9 weeks old but she will bring it to her mouth and grasp it with both hands now (10 weeks)Pros: happy with the price, the size, it is lightweight and easy to move around, nice looking designCon: not a very loud rattle. You need to shake it relatively hard to get it to make enough noise for your baby to pay attention to it. This is probably to the size and shape of the space that the balls are in.ConclusionWe mainly have used this rattle to help our baby realize, and see that she can grab things, and is visibly pleased with being able to do so. We have a separate rattle that is more difficult to grab, but is much louder."

Design and Ease of Use

Pros:

  • "Eary to clean, great for teething, easy for small hands to hold, and makes a rattle noise when you shake it."
  • "As infants stretch their tiny hands to explore the world, these Oball toys are the perfect design to allow them to grasp objects."
  • "The rattle is a nice size for little hands, thanks to the open structure at both ends."
  • "It’s also great for parents for several reasons. First, the rattle sound is not too loud so it's not disruptive or annoying. Second, it's relatively small so you can throw into the diaper bag and bring it out and about without taking much room. Third, it's a great value. This is definitely one of our go-to on the go toys since its so portable but keeps my baby's attention without disrupting others while out and about."

Cons:

  • "I was super excited to see this after receiving the Oball rain stick for a baby shower present. My son loves the Oball rainstick and I thought this would be a great toy since he could lift it (He was 3 months old at the time.) He plays with it once in awhile but the beads are too light so they don't make a lot of noise which cuts down on the entertainment factor for a baby."
  • "It's light. Small babies can hold it. My 3M old love it. He can grab it from any side. The plastic is not like silicone for teething but it's soft enough as not to hurt tje babies."
  • "Also, the ball ends are open for easy cleaning since baby will inevitably put this in his mouth. Bought this for a mother to be and she thought it was awesome."
  • "As our son began to reach out and show a budding ability to bat, pinch & grab items of interest, we decided it was time to try a rattle. We had received many cloth & stuffed toy rattles as gifts, but these proved a bit too hard to hold onto in these very early stages of gripping. He also had a hard plastic ring rattle that was easier to grip but would easily hit himself in the face with enthusiasm! I wanted a rattle with thinner and softer surfaces; this proved to be it! The thin, weblike structures give little fingers the perfect opportunity to practice pinching & gripping, and the rattle is lightweight enough to be swung about with ease. The webbing is a bit tougher than I imagined, but he has yet to hurt himself with even the most enthusiastic swings. Be mindful that it can roll away when dropped! (That might be a surprise bonus feature for crawling babies, but we’ll probably skip taking this on a plane.) Truly great rattle for developing hand-eye coordination, grip, muscle control, cause and effect and just plain auditory & visual entertainment. Highly recommend!"
