Build Quality

Pros:

  • "The Acer laptop is a well-built laptop for general use."
  • "This laptop is very much plastic construction (1.69kg/3.7lbs) and there is noticeable deck flex, but the display hinges are sturdy and the display doesn’t flex too much (I’ve had worse)."
  • "The laptop’s look and feel is professional, and the build quality is pretty solid... more so than many other laptops in this class/price point."
  • "It’s extremely well made I dropped it on accident and it was completely fine."
  • "Good build quality, responsive keys and trackpad."
  • "Doesn’t seem made out of plastic like a lot of the laptops I’ve had before."
  • "This Laptop has a good screen and I like its lighted keyboard."

Cons:

  • "Memory is soldered, not upgradable."
  • "The plastic on the bottom right of the screen (where it connects to the keyboard) has come unglued and is being ripped apart."
  • "The screen bezel and hinge on the right side have come apart and the screen won't stay up."
  • "The outer case of this laptop was underwhelming at first, but I have since come to appreciate it for its lightweight and simple design."
  • "The build is sturdy, but it may lack the premium feel of more expensive laptops."
  • "The downside is the plastic on this laptop is not durable."
  • "Immediately I heard something loose inside the laptop that was rolling around when I pulled it out of its packaging."

Performance

Pros:

  • "The very recent generation Ryzen 7000 series CPU is strong."
  • "With the configuration I got (8GB RAM and 512GB SSD and Ryzen 5) it gets the basic jobs done quickly."
  • "The Ryzen r5 7520u is more than enough for casual browsing and handle all the apps i need with zero effort."
  • "Drive speed is solid, plenty of storage for normal usage."
  • "The processor handles tasks such as displaying PowerPoint presentations very easily, as well as typing in Word."
  • "It's fast, does what I need, and definitely disabled S Mode though, and it runs fine."
  • "This computer is powerful, fast, and runs absolutely perfectly! I'm so stoked with it!"

Cons:

  • "Overall, this laptop is now the bare minimum. It's lost a lot of its longevity that it had in prior models."
  • "This laptop is beyond slow and it is not my internet."
  • "It is average to low overall performance."
  • "The only two problems I have with it though is the battery life, which unfortunately does not really last that long."
  • "Sometimes when opening new programs the CPU spikes to 100% and that may be causing the slight lag I get, or when swapping between all these programs."
  • "The DDR5 ram is fast enough and 8gb is not the worst thing ever especially since it really isn't a laptop for heavy games but it does run programs pretty well."
  • "While adding McAfee anti-virus it kept freezing up."

Display & Audio

Pros:

  • "The screen is a 15.6” 16:9 1920x1080 IPS display from BOE in a matte variety."
  • "The laptop has two down-firing speakers toward the front which have decent sound."
  • "The screen display on this laptop is very nice and crisp."
  • "The screen is nice and bright."
  • "The screen is great and the functionality."
  • "Good Screen size, good enough for streaming."
  • "The screen is nice."

Cons:

  • "Screen quality is definitely not good. I would give it a 6/10."
  • "The webcam is honestly bad, it’s 720p but it’s very low quality."
  • "There is a very basic 720p webcam that is full of grain and noise."
  • "The speakers are very thin sounding and quiet."
  • "The sound is so bad it's like buying a pair of earbuds in the dollar store."
  • "Sound is weird. It sounds like it's all coming from beneath the laptop and somewhat muffled."
  • "The sound volume and quality is pathetic, my cell phone has louder higher quality sound."

  • "The laptop camera constantly wants to change the lighting."

Battery Life

Pros:

  • "Under light load (web browsing, etc), I saw the battery drop to 74% after 3 hours of screen on time, so I’d say an estimate of 12 hours is not unreasonable for battery life."
  • "The charge holds very well, and the computer is lightweight."
  • "The battery life is exceptional. I have not had the laptop die on me a single time and some of my classes have gone all 8 hours."
  • "Great battery life."
