Gameplay Experience

Pros:

  • "This is a great game for two players that want to get a game in under 60 minutes."
  • "The games are quick - maybe 30 minutes each."
  • "It's an amazingly simple game to learn, but that doesn't mean there isn't any strategy."
  • "The gameplay is simple enough that my 4 year old can play this with me."
  • "Each time you play it’s a different game, it’s strategic and somewhat chance depending on where the pieces of quilt land."
  • "It's incredibly simple but challenging where each decision matters and every game takes a little bit different strategy."
  • "The mechanics are simple, but every round is fun and tense."

Cons:

  • "Very expensive for a game where pieces... about 81 ....are punch out cardboard."
  • "The game itself is reasonably enjoyable but the instructions are very lacking."
  • "The only thing I can say against the game is that nearly all the game pieces are just thin cardboard."
  • "The new americana edition is awful to look at. The buttons blend in and it's ugly."
  • "There's a lot of randomness in how the pieces are shuffled out and sometimes you are forced to pass just because of bad tile distribution, giving your opponent a huge advantage."
  • "One minor problem we encountered is that sometimes one player has a really good start while the other one has no chances to buy good pieces which makes it nearly impossible to catch up."
  • "Don't waste your money... even though my opponent won the game we both agreed that the game is stupid because it's just a race to get the highest button valued pieces the fastest."

Design and Quality

Pros:

  • "The components are also very nice-looking and the player boards look really neat at the end of the game."
  • "The quality of the game pieces are good."
  • "It's easy to spot important info on the pieces and all 3 game boards are small with no folds (and therefore no uneven surfaces)."
  • "I like the art and the needlework aesthetic."
  • "The game itself is very aesthetically pleasing, and both myself and the other player (both women in late 20s) found it pleasing and relaxing."
  • "The components of the game are great, and the theme is incorporated nicely into the game play."
  • "The quilt patches look the part, the buttons are adorable, and the reversible board means you get some customization."

Cons:

  • "Some of the pieces are made out of quality cardboard so it's forgivable."
  • "Some of the pieces don't fit together like they should."
  • "Wish the tiles were made out of a better/longer lasting material."
  • "I have to admit I was disappointed in how ugly the game was."
  • "I thought it would be a fun gift for a quilter or crafter but it was really drab looking."
  • "The reason for the three star rating, is the quality of the components. There are a lot of die cut pieces to remove, and the die cutting was terrible."
  • "I got a copy that had the tiles poorly cut."

Accessibility and Replayability

Pros:

  • "It would be suitable for a wide range of ages."
  • "Great for non/light gamers, and yet definitely enough strategy there for the more hardcore gamers."
  • "Definitely worth the money, and has the added bonus of being very pretty and calming."
  • "It's also great that you can play very competitively (blocking your opponent from getting pieces they need or can afford, maximizing extra turns, etc.) or you can just focus on your own board and maxing out your personal score."
  • "Very easy rules, great design, good mix of strategy and luck, not too long, not too short, can be replayed over and over."
  • "Simple enough that my (quite smart) 6 and 8 year old can play it."
  • "It’s an easy game to learn and very replayable."

Cons:

  • "It's hard to find a 2-player game that is enjoyable more then a couple times, and for varying ages."
  • "We play this game all the time and highly recommend it! I'd love if there was the ability to play with more people (it's a 2 person)."
  • "The strategy is a little lost on him."
  • "If you are just getting into table top games it may not seem very simple."
  • "Quilting? Ugh I had wasted 30 bucks."
  • "The new americana edition is awful to look at. The buttons blend in and it's ugly."
  • "The rules are confusing at first. I had to go online to resolve some questions we had."
