Quality and Durability

Pros:

  • "The tips don't break easily (unless you drop them on a hard surface and shatter the core) and they sharpen beautifully with a hand crank pencil sharpener."
  • "These things are creamy and blend extremely well."
  • "They have quality wood barrels, no splits or cracks."
  • "The cores are thick, soft but not too soft so they don't wear down as fast as others, hold a point well and sharpen with no problem."
  • "I haven’t had a broken pencil yet."
  • "They don't break when they are sharpened."
  • "I haven't had any problem with these pencils breaking or having the cores fall apart."

Cons:

  • "The lid of the metal container that they came in was so bent up that it no longer fits."
  • "The metal tin they come in is VERY flimsy."
  • "But if you don’t hold it closed when transferring, it will open up easily and dump out."
  • "The case was easily bent, and it makes storing it in its original case difficult."
  • "Also the trays are not sturdy, and I keep spilling all the pencils onto the floor."
  • "The cores do break. They break a lot."
  • "For whatever reason the lead in several of them is broken, causing them to continuously fall out when sharpening."

Color Quality and Selection

Pros:

  • "Great vibrant colors and amazing packaging."
  • "These pencils are very smooth to use, have beautiful shades, and are really a dream to use."
  • "Most colors blend well. Great shading."
  • "For the price you pay, these pencils come in a nice tin and boy do they pack a pigmented punch!"
  • "Colors are bright, there's many shades (with just the ones I needed!), sturdy, haven't had to sharpen yet."
  • "The colors are vibrant and lay down well."
  • "The colors are really great and they glide on quite easily. They also blend well."

Cons:

  • "However, I was very disappointed to see that they carry a pencil called “flesh,” which is pale pinkish white. This is racist naming."
  • "There will be times during very large and complex projects where you might not have the exact shade you want."
  • "These are less pigmented than Prismacolor, so you'll have to press a bit harder to get coverage."
  • "The biggest disappointment is that the colors all look like different shades until you apply them to paper. Then almost all the blues look exactly alike."
  • "The two lighter “nude” colors are so light you really can’t get any color down from them at all."
  • "They are kind of waxy/thick, so I don’t really love that consistency."
  • "The white is pretty weak though, so you can't rely on it to add highlights like Prismacolor."

Value for Money

Pros:

  • "These colored pencils are very affordable, especially considering the quality."
  • "They are amazing budget-friendly pencils!"
  • "I will definitely buy again, great value!!"
  • "For the price, these are some of the best colored pencil out there for HS/college students and teachers on a budget."
  • "If you can’t afford the better known brands, these color pencils are certainly worth the price!"
  • "REALLY good value for money! I mean, at this price, They're cheaper than crayolas!"
  • "This was an absolute STEAL!"

Cons:

  • "I knew the color in the pencils was not going to be as soft and easy to use as more expensive pencils, but these are even harder than I thought they would be."
  • "You have to press really hard to get a good color out of them, and they get really dull really fast."
  • "I am so disappointed in the quality they barely lay down, color or pigment."
  • "For that, I feel these are way too expensive for that reason."
  • "Pretty cheap but you get what you pay for."
  • "Was a bit disheartened at the price increase. Nearly doubled. tsk tsk"
  • "Very disappointing since they were purchased as gifts."
